Kitchen counters in narrow Lend plans
Galley kitchens under six metres long cannot take deep pendant drops without head clashes. We favour linear under-cabinet strips with high colour rendering so knife work stays safe, plus a single adjustable spot over the sink if the window is dark by late afternoon.
Polished stone and glass splashbacks reflect harshly; shielding and beam cut-off matter more than raw lumen counts.
Desks facing courtyard walls
Many Jakomini home offices look onto narrow courtyards with little sky. A desk lamp alone creates a bright blot on paper and leaves the face in shadow on video calls. We add a soft vertical wash behind the screen and a focused arm lamp for documents.
Screen glare from overhead downlights is a frequent complaint; we shift task sources to the side or use asymmetric optics.
Kelvin · Use · Mood
| Kelvin | Use | Mood |
|---|---|---|
| 3000 K | Kitchen prep, dining craft | Warm accuracy |
| 3500 K | Desk, sewing, homework | Steady focus |
| 4000 K | Workshop corner, bike repair | Daylight substitute |
| 2700 K | Bedside reading only | Quiet page light |
Reading chairs without washing the sofa
A floor lamp with a wide shade floods the whole seating group and kills the ambient dimming scene. We specify narrower shades or wall-mounted readers aimed at the book plane, leaving the sofa fabric in softer ambient light.
In shared living rooms this keeps one person reading while another watches a film without competing brightness wars.
Separating task circuits from ambient
When electricians can add a switched loop, task and ambient should not share one dimmer. Cooking needs full task while ambient stays mid-level; film nights reverse that balance.
If rewiring is blocked, smart bulbs on separate groups inside existing fittings can approximate the split — we note that option clearly in the schedule.
Task add-on fees
Task plans for a single kitchen or desk zone start at €420 when ambient work is already underway. Standalone task studies for one room are €320 including a fixture shortlist in EUR with local supplier options.
High-CRI strip and driver packages for a typical Lend galley often land between €180 and €450 in hardware, separate from our design fee.
